Candle Care
Candle Care
Are you looking to make the most out of your candles and ensure they burn cleanly and evenly every time? Proper candle care is essential to maximize the lifespan and performance of your favorite candles. Here are some expert tips to help you achieve the perfect burn every time.
Trim the Wick
One of the most important steps in candle care is to trim the wick before each use. A trimmed wick will help the candle burn evenly and prevent black soot from forming on the jar or container. Make sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch before lighting the candle.
Avoid Drafts
When burning a candle, it's important to place it away from drafts. Drafts can cause the candle to burn unevenly and may lead to tunneling, where the wax burns down the center and leaves wax along the sides. To prevent this, place your candle in a draft-free area.
Burn in Intervals
For the first burn, allow the candle to create a full melt pool across the top. This will help prevent tunneling in future burns. It's recommended to burn candles for 1 hour per inch of diameter to ensure an even burn and prevent wasted wax.
Use a Snuffer
Instead of blowing out your candle, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Blowing out a candle can cause the wick to move and create smoke. A snuffer will help preserve the wick and prevent any unwanted odors from lingering.
Store Properly
When not in use, store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help preserve the scent and color of the candle. Avoid storing candles in hot or humid areas, as this can cause the wax to soften or melt.
By following these expert tips for proper candle care, you can enjoy a longer-lasting, cleaner burn every time you light your favorite candles. Take care of your candles, and they will continue to brighten up your space with their warm glow and inviting scents.
Wood Wick Troubleshoot
Wood Wick Troubleshoot
Having trouble with wood wick candles? Don’t stress! I promise you, the candle is OK! Follow these steps if you find the wood wick is not staying lit:
1. Trim the burnt ends of the woodwick using a wick trimmer. If you do not have one, you can use a paper towel and break off the burnt parts ONLY
2. Light the freshly trimmed wick with a match or lighter. Larger flame device allows for the wood to catch better than reusable USB lighters
3. It is possible that the wick will go out soon after it is lit. This is totally normal. Keep lighting the wick until the wood catches. It might take several tries but it will work.
4. Follow the candle care guide above to keep your candle lasting a long time!
5. Enjoy!
